With two digital inputs, a rear USB-B input, MM and MC Phono inputs and equalizer, enjoy impeccable sonic quality from your vinyl collection, and during playback of high-resolution files up to 384kHz/32bit and DSD up to 11.2MHz from a computer. Quality construction and unique Denon technology provides unmatched performance for your cherished music collection from a brand with a more than 100-year legacy of audio innovation.
Advanced Ultra High Current MOS Single-Push-Pull Circuit
Provided in a single push-pull configuration, the PMA-1600NE features Advanced UHC-MOS technology that eliminates deviations in the amplification stage and balances high power with delicate musical details. This circuit masterfully reproduces the full sonic range, from the delicate musical nuances to the powerful peaks of rich musical expression. Advanced UHC (Ultra High Current)-MOS technology utilizes a minimum number of high-current amplifier elements to balance advanced speaker drive capabilities and improve sound quality. Advanced UHCMOS is an ideal amplifier whose power supply performance is superior to that of bipolar transistors and incorporates the sound quality advantages of MOSFETs.
Advanced AL32 Processing Plus with 384-kHz/32-bit Support
The PMA-1600NE is equipped with Advanced AL32 Processing Plus, the latest in analog waveform reproduction technology from Denon. Advanced AL32 Processing Plus utilizes data interpolation algorithms, which support high-resolution 384 kHz/32-bit audio sources. The algorithms add in the points that should exist before and after large quantities of data, smoothing out the waveform and restoring information that was lost during the digital recording. The resulting playback is highly detailed, free of interferences, richly expressive in the lower range and beautifully faithful to the original sound. Listen to songs as the artist intended.
MM and MC Phono Equalizer
The PMA-1600NE includes a phono equalizer that supports input from both MM and MC cartridges. This phono equalizer has high gain, and unlike loops in other circuit board patterns which cause adverse effects on sound quality, the simple, straightforward design of the PMA-1600NE phono equalizer significantly improves sound.
USB-DAC Supporting 11.2-MHz DSD and 384-kHz/32-bit PCM
To accurately synchronize digital circuits, the PMA-1600NE provides USB-DAC functions that support high-resolution up to 11.2-MHz DSD and 384-kHz/32-bit PCM input signals. Crafted with exceptional quality, the DAC suppresses jitter and ensures optimal precision in D/A conversion. In addition, the DSD transmission methods support ASIO native playback and DSD Audio over PCM Frames (DoP). The D/A converter used in the PMA-1600NE is the same 384-kHz/32-bit and DSD capable premium DAC used in the DCD-1600NE to deliver a clean, high-grade sound.
Optical and Coaxial Digital Inputs
The PMA-1600NE features two Optical inputs and one Coaxial input and supports PCM signals up to 192 kHz/24 bit. These digital inputs help to improve sound and visual quality of your TV audio, Blu-Ray, media players and more. Also use it to input high-resolution sound from an audio source on your computer.
6-Block Chassis Configuration & Direct Mechanical Ground Construction
Constructed with 1.0 mm thick steel plates and made of ABS resin with rigid rib construction, the chassis in the PMA1600NE protects the signal circuits from external vibration and eliminates adverse effects of mutual interference among the circuits. It’s configured of six independent blocks that house phono equalizer and input circuitry, volume control circuitry, USB-DAC circuitry, amplification circuitry, power section and the control section. With the power section at the center, feet that support the weight of internal components and heat sinks on both sides, the construction is well-balanced and prevents unwanted vibration from affecting sound quality.
Digital Isolator and Analog Mode
Equipped with a high-speed digital isolator, the PMA-1600NE eliminates adverse effects on sound quality caused by highfrequency noise from a USB-connect computer or digital inputs. Since data is transferred magnetically via coils embedded in an IC chip, the input and output sides of the PMA-1600NE are electrically isolated. The PMA-1600NE also features a dedicated secondary winding in power transformer for the digital circuitry to shut out noise from the power source. Analog Mode can be used to turn off power to the dedicated digital power source and completely stop operation of the digital input circuitry, avoiding any high frequency influence on the analog section. Analog Mode also turns off the fluorescent display, allowing the PMA-1600NE to operate as a purely analog amp (during Analog Mode, USB-B, coaxial digital, and optical digital inputs are disabled).
